Do It Now is a trio of life-long performers whose intention is to create a bold confluence of spirited, outspoken poetry and improvised World Fusion music. It's part old school beat poet style, and part 21st century commentary-in-performance. It's everything music and poetry is supposed when we dare to embrace the exquisite beauty of a sometimes troubling world.

John Sheldon has been a professional musician since he was the 17 year old lead guitarist in Van Morrison's band. Songwriter for James Taylor and leader of his own bands, he has been busy composing and performing music for theater. After experiencing a series of ayahuasca ceremonies, John was moved to create "The Red Guitar," a monologue with music, which he has been performing on stages, in homes, and "wherever I possibly can." He continues to write songs and instrumental music, accumulating a large and varied body of work. "My view of music has changed. It is not just entertainment anymore, but a way to connect to the energies of spirit and to invite them into our presence."

Tony Vacca is an American percussionist specializing in jazz and an early innovator in world music. He incorporates percussion instruments from a world of traditions that includes African, Caribbean, Asian and Middle-Eastern influences, to which he adds some of his spoken word and rhythm poetry. Tony has been active in the Jazz and World Music stage since the early 1970s. His frequent trips to West Africa have contributed to his unique approach to playing, and to his depth of knowledge regarding African and American musical traditions. Vacca has recorded and performed with a wide range of musicians, including Sting, and his performances have been described as a "non-stop athletic spectacle of percussion music and spoken word."

You Do It Nowtime poet, author, spoken-word festival promoter and small press publisher. He has lived in Wendell for more than twenty years and has been hosting and promoting spoken-word events in Western MA for more than a decade. He coordinates the Greenfield Annual Word Fest and brings poetry to the North Quabbin Garlic and Arts Festival. Originally from Buffalo, N.Y., Richmond has presented his work nationally and internationally, his writing has appeared in journals, magazines and anthologies, and he was named Beat Poet Laureate of Massachusetts by the National Beat PoeDo It Now
