Tony Vacca and Tantra Zawadi

World Music and Spoken Word is what happens when these two extraordinary performers are together. Each of them is a lifelong daring creator and teaching artist, and their work together takes audiences to a place where ancient soothsayer meets contemporary performance poet, and the world of music becomes the magic carpet ride and soundtrack for this journey.

Tony Vacca is a world class percussionist and published poet, and Tantra Zawadi is a hybrid Word-Goddess and social activist with a long list of word festival performances and poetry books in her resume.

School Programs

For school visits Ms. Zawadi offers participatory workshops addressing creative writing and performance poetry in the 21st century, and Tony Vacca offers a variety of workshop sessions, including a hands-on dive into creating a world music percussion orchestra with students.

Each school day visit typically includes up to three simultaneous workshops by each performer in separate locations, (for a total of six workshops) and then ends with the spectacle of their duo concert, which can include a performance by the percussion workshop participants.

FEES: $1800. This includes all workshop instruments and a sound system for the concert. Travel beyond the New York City and New England region may require an additional fee.
